"I was formerly in my teenage years in a traditional heavy metal band called "Thunder Tits" as a co-composer and rhythm guitarist. The bands´ common love of traditional heavy metal and classic rock, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Saxon, Black Sabbath, Thin Lizzy, Led Zeppelin, Blue Öyster Cult etc. fueled the project.

The obsession with heavy music grew as I joined another metal band "Urðun", an old-school death metal band where I took my role as a lead/rhythm guitarist. Thunder Tits and Urðun were lyrically and thematically connected as the frontman and now acclaimed artist drew inspirations from classic cult horror b-movies of the 70s, 80s and early 90s, the decision of disbanding the former band and going full force into death metal was part of his musical evolution and as a young passionate dude I followed my friend on his journey. The project drew inspirations from old school death metal bands Death, Autopsy, Morbid Angel fused with a bit of doom, thrash and you got the recipe for Urðun.

I had a huge appreciation toward the experimental side of music having grown up with my father and my natural born artistic twin cousins both of whom had acclaim in the underground music scene of Akureyri, Iceland (ex-Naught, ex-Á Geigsgötum, Dulvitund, Deer God and Endalok to name a few).

Both inspired me heavily during my youth and taught me how to play my first licks, riffs and shaped my music taste and composition at a subconscious level.

My father listened to every single genre on the planet and fed me a bit of everything throughout my formative years, eventually I gravitated mostly toward classic rock, prog rock and all subgenres of heavy metal.

This incentivized me to start a project with one of my friends who had a similarly vast taste in music. He was more into the modern mainstream side of pop and metal but our tastes and preferences matched with recent extraordinary popular progressive metal projects such as Opeth, Wintersun, Star One etc.

That fueled with our love of beloved sci-fi and fantasy franchises such as Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Star Trek, Alien, Terminator and more the project "Skyfolk" was born, best described as progressive space metal/rock.

Throughout my mid-twenties I eventually went to music school to sharpen my music theory and production skills. I had always relied mostly on my "right hemisphere" but as work and school duties were "in the way" I hadn´t really built up competency in the more practical side trusting purely on instincts and experience. I was involved with indie artists where I played live shows as a session guitarist. Despite having dipped my toes into those different musical avenues my soul was hungry for something more personal, something connected entirely with my interests and truest self.

I had been very much into metaphysics during my late teenage years and throughout my twenties in total secret. I admittetly watched a lot of philosophical Youtube videos, dived into spiritual books and read countless articles about sages from different cultures, self development videos on the side of metaphysics and had an unparalleled fascination with mythologies, religion, history, psychology and I compressed the complexity of the worlds´ problems, human psychology and epistemology to the simple yet profound concept of "ego".

There was always a little battle within me, a resistance, pain, insecurity and melancholy and I soon realized after my research into the abstract that I had fallen into a psychological trap so many do.

I wasn´t being fully authentic and true to myself and I took life for granted in that way. As well as I had rigid rules in my head the way the world was and though the fascination with metaphysics and spirituality helped me realize this, later that very thing paradoxically seduced me into a spiritual dogma that slowly became my whole identity.

The Egomind project seeks to combine all the different remnants of these experiences into one package, at least for me psychologically and I guess that´s what any piece of music is. A sort of culmination and clever compression of a overwhelmingly complex concept that is the relationship between an artist and the universe. Mental masturbation aside..

Egomind is the one project that makes me spiritually whole and where I can really breathe and be myself without any compromises, doubts or filters.

The fused mythological environment alongside the metaphysical atmosphere and my past musical fascinations for subgenres of metal, progressive rock and experimental music is the recipe for the Egomind Project.

Yet, all the past life lessons from other projects have convinced me of the necessity of collaboration so I work closely with my musician friends for knowledge from their field of expertise to craft this project. As of yet though it is still at a "solo project" stage, time evolves all things so who knows what might happen in the near future.

I am truly delighted to share this with all of you so stay fresh and tuned for the journey.
